They usually conduct research, collect data and interpret economic data to provide insights and advice to different sectors such as the government, businesses, organisations and also the public.
JOB BRIEF
We are looking for an economist to join our team and analyse market trends in order to advise our company leaders on economic decisions and help us develop examples to assist with forecasting.
Economists have a responsibility to analyse economic data, running complex models to assist in forecasting and advising the leaders on business decisions.
You will be working with a small team of financial analysts to understand current economic trends in order for your team to present the data to the leaders and stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyse market trends to build forecasts and economic models
- Advise businesses and governments on economic decisions
- Consult clients on the efficacy of policies, products and services
- Study the economic impact of laws and regulations
- Develop statistical and econometric models for forecasting
- Communicate date in the form of presentations, technical reports and non-technical reports

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS
- Proven work experience as an economist or similar role
- Experience in an analytical role
- Have a logical mindset and strong problem solving skills
- Exceptional organisational skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Relevant training or certifications as an economist
SALARY RANGE
The average monthly salary for an economist position in Malaysia ranges from RM 13,000 to RM 25,000
