There is a wealth of information available regarding how to present yourself in the best possible light during a job interview.
One job coach decided to keep things simple and focus on confidence, which is the most crucial thing you can say.
In a job interview, there is one crucial item to keep in mind.
Erin McGoff, a career coach, refers to herself as “your internet big sis.” McGoff is renowned for providing priceless guidance on job applications and resolving issues at work.
McGoff recently revealed a fresh piece of advice that she believes is crucial for acing a job interview. Few people use it, she remarked, which surprised her.
“One of the best things you can do in a job interview is so simple, and yet so many people just don’t do it,” she said. “Like, it’s so obvious, but most people just don’t do it.”
“Just say that you’re the perfect person for the job,” McGoff said, revealing her secret weapon.
“People spend so much time talking about, you know, their past experiences, their qualifications, their hard skills, and that stuff’s all great, but be sure at the end to wrap it up with, ‘And that’s why I believe that I am truly the perfect candidate for this role,’” she shared.
According to McGoff, you want the interviewer to think, “I’m the one!” after seeing you. You located her! You can put an end to your search!
“I mean, don’t say it like that, but convince them, be passionate, be enthusiastic,” she pointed out. “Because if you don’t believe it, they definitely won’t.”
All of your accomplishments are meaningless if you can’t persuade the interviewer that you are the most qualified candidate for the position. Although qualifications seem good, they are not sufficient to land a job on their own.
If the interviewer asks, “Why?” what would you do?
It seems reasonable to claim that you are the best applicant for a position. Instead of waiting for the interviewer to ask you what makes you ideal for the position, it seems wise to demonstrate your confidence right away.
However, there’s a significant possibility the interviewer will ask, “Why?” after you say this, even if you say it before they have a chance to ask the dreaded question.
According to Liz Ryan, a former advice columnist for Forbes, this “is indeed obnoxious” in terms of interview questions. Furthermore, it has become somewhat cliched. However, it’s crucial to know how to respond to it.
“What you definitely don’t want to do when you’re asked, ‘What makes you the best candidate?’ is to start listing your greatest virtues, like, ‘I’m smart, I’m hard-working, and I walk old ladies across the street!’” Ryan went on.
Rather, Ryan offered a fresh approach to this query. She advised making a note of the qualities the interviewer is genuinely seeking in a candidate, which is essentially aligning your skills with the job description.
“Any time you can turn a question-and-answer interview into a human conversation, do it! You will feel better, and the interview will flow more smoothly that way,” Ryan concluded.
A successful interview depends on your ability to show that you are the most qualified candidate for the position.
In their comments on McGoff’s video, several employees and managers appeared to concur that it was crucial to bring up the topic of being a good match for the position during a job interview.
“I interviewed eight people,” one person said. “The ninth told me he was perfect for the role. I offered him the position this week.”
“Coming back to report that I did it, and it worked,” another added.
Although interviewers frequently ask why you are a good fit for a position, it’s crucial to respond confidently and bring that up yourself.
You should be ready to explain why you are the best person for the job!
