WHAT IS A FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST?
A forensic pathologist will analyse the medical history of the deceased individual and crime scene evidence and witness testimonials, perform an autopsy to assess whether death was caused by injury or disease, as well to collect further evidence from the body.
WHAT DOES A FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST DO?
A forensic pathologist studies tissues and bodily fluids, as well as investigating the circumstances behind a person’s death. They use their knowledge to assess the cause, manner, and processes of death, and they supply vital information to law enforcement and medical specialists. They may also gather evidence, create reports, and provide expert testimony in judicial procedures.
FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Performing autopsies to gather details such as time of death, reason of death and matter of death
- Undertaking examinations of specimens, tissues, organs, fluids, and blood to determine abnormalities
- Investigating sudden and/or unnatural deaths, in conjunction with law enforcement when needed
JOB BRIEF
Firstly, we are searching for a qualified forensic pathologist to join our team and do post-mortem medical examinations to ascertain the cause of death and gather information about the circumstances surrounding the death. Furthermore, as a forensic pathologist, you will conduct autopsies, ensure proper evidence chain of custody, and provide expert testimony as needed.
Moreover, your major goal, working jointly with a team of pathologists, will be to aid law enforcement authorities and medical institutions in understanding the numerous reasons linked with a death.Therefore, by meticulously analysing forensic evidence and conducting thorough examinations, you will contribute to the accurate determination of causes of death and help bring closure to families and justice to the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct on-site investigations to obtain data and information pertaining to a case
- Prepare reports of findings to be given to law enforcement to aid any ongoing investigations
- Provide expert testimony in court regarding autopsies and the findings thereof
- Remain informed of developments in forensic pathology and attend seminars and courses in forensic medicine for continuing education
REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS
- Proven work experience or similar role
- Experience using lab testing equipment
- Working knowledge of applicable laws and statutes governing forensic services
- Exceptional analytical and research skills
- Relevant training and/or certifications
SALARY RANGE
The salary range for a forensic pathologist is between RM 9,500 to RM 27,000.
