WHAT DOES A ROBOTICS ENGINEER DO?

A robotics engineer designs and builds prototypes, tests machines and maintains the software that controls them. They may also conduct appropriate research on the most efficient and safest process to create these robotic systems.

JOB BRIEF

We are looking for a robotics engineer to design and build robotics applications and devices. You will be using computer-aided modeling software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks. They must also be able to test the robots to ensure safety and quality. 

You must have at least a degree in engineering with deep knowledge of flexible automation and computer systems. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Research to determine the robotic application
  • Design robotic systems 
  • Develop and implement software that will control the robots
  • Create prototypes and the necessary components
  • Develop cost-effective and efficient processes 
  • Perform integration tests and quality control
  • Apply machine learning techniques
  • Create complete documentation for robotic systems
  • Monitor the robotic systems and optimise the functionality
  • Troubleshoot the robot design for defects

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

  • Previous experience as a robotics engineer or a similar role
  • Well-versed in computer science, applied physics and mechanics
  • Excellent knowledge of CAD/CAM software
  • Knowledge of cost, efficiency and productivity optimisation methods
  • Able to develop and evaluate integrated systems
  • Have an analytical mind
  • Good communication skills
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a similar field
