A radiologist is a medical professional who specialises in interpreting medical images to diagnose and monitor diseases. Next, they play a crucial role in analysing various imaging tools such as ultrasounds, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). Also, radiologists have to work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely diagnosis. Lastly, they are needed to ensure that the patient gets their much needed treatment. 


Radiologists perform a range of duties to support patient care. Firstly, they analyse medical images to diagnose and monitor diseases, interpret test results and communicate findings to other healthcare professionals. Furthermore, radiologists may also perform interventional procedures using imaging  guidance such as biopsies or drain placements. Next, they collaborate with referring physicians and  consult on treatment plans and provide expertise in choosing the most suitable imaging techniques. Additionally, radiologists participate in quality assurance programs, stay updated on advancements in imaging technology and ensure patient safety and radiation protection during procedures.

Furthermore, your primary responsibilities will involve employing the most advanced medical imaging technology to effectively diagnose and treat a wide range of illnesses. Next, you will be collaborating closely with other physicians and healthcare professionals. This is so that you and other physicians are able to share valuable insights and consultations to ensure optimal patient care.

  • Reviewing and interpreting medical images to determine patient status and future medical care
  • Determining the exact images required for diagnosis and delivering orders
  • Administering trace amounts of radioactive substances to create and enhance diagnostic images
  • Performing minimally invasive surgical techniques with image guidance
  • Working with other physicians such as primary care doctors, nurses and radiology technicians to administer treatment and manage pain


  • Proven work experience as a radiologist or any other similar role
  • Knowledge of general surgery practices to help diagnose and treat injuries
  • Excellent skills such as interpersonal and communication
  • Strong motor skills and manual dexterity to handle small tools and imaging equipment
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours based on the clinic’s needs
  • Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail to interpret imaging results
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations
  • Bachelor ‘s Degree in Biology, Physical Sciences or any related field with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree


The monthly salary range for a radiologist is RM 2500 to RM 3700.
